EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival: April 15, 2012

We began our day at EPCOT by taking in the topiaries that adorned the front of the park as part of the annual Flower and Garden Festival. After taking quite a few pictures we made our way to Test Track and grabbed a Fastpass as Test Track is slated to close after this date for refurbishment. After getting the fastpass we went to the Electric Umbrella for an early lunch since our dinner reservations were for 4:30 PM.

After lunch we first rode “Mission Space” which was great as always and only had about a 15 minute wait time. We then went to the “Universe of Energy” or “Ellen’s Energy Adventure”. I was able to get a few nice shots during the actual ride portion of this attraction thanks to my new rapid fire camera that works well during low light situations without flash. We then walked around the Flower and Garden center which is located in the empty building where the human body exhibit used to be. Outside of this building was the topiary of Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy.

It was then time for us to visit “Test Track” which was a blast as always. I was sure to take a few photos as I’m not sure what the attraction will look like when it returns. We then continued to take in the topiaries starting with the Fairies collection, then Peter Pan, and then Bambi’s Butterfly House. This exhibit was an outdoor tent that had butterflies and this is where the Bambi topiaries were located. After this we went to “Journey Into Imagination with Figment” and “Captain EO”. We then made our way to the World Showcase section of EPCOT and took in more topiaries including Lady and the Tramp, Cars, and Toy Story. An interesting thing happened while were in World Showcase in that we got blocked in as they lifted the bridge (which I didn’t realize was a bridge) which was one of the walkways in World Showcase so that they could bring out the floats with the equipment for “Illuminations” including the globe.

It was then time for dinner and we ate at Via Napoli where I had a pasta dinner. It was good, don’t get me wrong, but I wasn’t overwhelmed. Needing to walk off a bit of dinner we continued around World Showcase and found the topiaries of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Winnie the Pooh. We then listened to the band “British Revolution” in the UK section of World Showcase before heading back to Future World. We went to “The Seas” and rode the Finding Nemo ride and then watched the dolphins in the aquarium section of “The Seas” before ending our time at EPCOT by riding “Spaceship Earth”.

We went back our resort, Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary, and watched the 10 PM showing of “Wishes” from the 16th floor observation deck of Bay Lake Tower.

Unfortunately I was having some technical difficulties with cameras and the pictures are not shown in any particular order on the next few pages. Look for an update tomorrow night as Monday’s plan is Hollywood Studios.
